Since forming Amber Road in 2013, Katy Svalbe [landscape architect] and her sister Yasmine Ghoniem [interior architect] have applied their sophisticated, eclectic aesthetic and collaborative approach to a wide range of commercial, public, residential and hospitality projects. As Australian Design Review noted, although Amber Road was only formed a few years ago, Ghoniem and Svalbe’s combined years of experience and restless curiosity makes for an ‘old soul’ approach to designing and living. Both directors have lived, studied and worked extensively overseas; including Katy in Spain and Yasmine (the Middle East and the US). As a result, Amber Road’s work is inspired by extensive travel and exploration, rooted in a deep respect for nature, with an unbridled ambition to enhance human collaboration. At all scales and budgets the goal is essentially the same: to use good design to connect, inspire and enrich people’s lives.
